Let's Start At The Very Beginning

A well known lyric in one of the songs written for the Sound of Music states, "Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start." I am sure a number of you are now singing that song. Jesus one day was asked about divorce. In essence He said, "let's start at the very beginning." He directed His inquisitors back to Genesis 2 and emphasized that the answer was clear and unequivocal as recorded in the very first chapter of the the Scriptures. Jesus said, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. What God has joined together let no man tear asunder." This blog entry is not about marriage but it is about significant truth found in Genesis 1.

I want to briefly draw attention to significant truth found in Genesis chapter one. In verses 26 - 27 God allows us to peek into His thoughts just prior to creating man. God stated, "Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness." Verse twenty seven states, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."

First, man was and is created with unique capacities to know God and have a unique relationship with Him compared to all other living creatures. It is unnatural and contrary God's creative design for any man / woman not to be in a right relationship with God. Anyone who does not have a right relationship with God should ask, why not, what keeps me from having a right relationship with my Creator?

Second, man is created he is not evolved. The source of human life is the eternal and unique life bound up in our Creator. It is simply illogical, unfathomable, uninformed, ignorant, unreasonable and blasphemous to think that human life evolved from lower more simple life forms which evolved from lifeless, unintelligent and inanimate matter. How utterly ridiculous to think that such a progression ultimately resulted in human life. However, it is eminently reasonable to understand and embrace the facts that God has revealed, namely that He personally created man in His own image.

If you know Christ as your Lord and Savior I appeal to you to seek Him with all your heart, to value and grow in the most natural and marvelous human relationship possible, the relationship with our Creator secured for us in and through Jesus Christ.

If you do not know Christ as your Lord and Savior I appeal to you to seek out someone who can clearly explain the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ and to trust Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start and know that we are created to have a unique, special and wonderful relationship with our Lord, God, Savior and Creator.
